KNIT Exec

2017 KNIT Executive Board

KNIT is led by a KNIT Executive Board charged with planning and implementing various portions of the first-year mentoring program. Everything from training to programming is created by our students to ensure that KNIT focuses on the needs of our student body. The board is made up of 4 committees--Programming, Training, Membership, and Marketing--which are led by a Executive Director. Learn more about the committees and the members below.

KNIT is led by an Executive Director that oversees each of the four committees within KNIT. The Executive Director is also charged with building campus partnerships and finding funding to help KNIT grow and continue to support our incoming students.

Marketing is tasked in creating and delivering all recruitment marketing efforts for KNIT. This includes KNIT Mentor recruitment during the spring semester and KNIT Mentee recruitment during the summer and fall. Marketing also creates a monthly KNIT Mentor and Mentee newsletter to keep KNIT connected to what is happening within KNIT and throughout our campus and community.

Membership's goal is to ensure that the members of KNIT (both Mentors and Mentees) feel supported and connected with the KNIT program. This begins with leading the recruitment of Mentors and Mentees and continues once all members are selected. Membership achieves this through KNITting Circles, member affirmation, and programmatic tracking.

The programming coordinators plan and implement the various KNIT programming that happens throughout the year for both Mentors and Mentees. This includes our KNIT matching event in early fall and the 3-4 monthly programs that occur during new students first semester. They also plan programs to help build camaraderie throughout KNIT. Programming also oversees the KNIT Mentor budget that provides financial support of individualized mentor programming.

KNIT prepares their Mentors through focused and community led training. Those trainings are plan and delivered by our training coordinators. KNIT has two trainings that occur during the spring semester and a Mentor retreat that happens during the fall. Training also coordinates with various campus departments and programs to create trainings that prepare Mentors to lead specific populations of incoming students.
