Families

Mark your calendars for Week of Welcome! This is an opportunity for students new to Tech to deepen their relationships made during FASET and expand their network of connection, resources, and support. Your student is invited to participate in a variety of events, workshops, designed to contribute to their holistic success at Georgia Tech.

Supporting Your Student

You can best support your student by helping them prepare for their week ahead of time by downloading the app, completing the waiver, reviewing the session offerings and RSVPing for events that interest them. Most events have an attendance cap, so encourage your student to register for sessions of interest. Encouraging them to attend both academic and social functions will help them maximize their experience and introduce them to as many new people and resources as possible. If your student is under 18, you will receive the waiver directly by email to sign- be on the lookout for that. For valuable information on how to support your student year-round, visit Parent and Family Programs website.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are meals provided during Week of Welcome?

Food will be plentiful throughout the week across campus. In addition to food offerings found at many WOW events, dining hall locations and some retail locations will be open on modified schedules, complete with special events just for Week of Welcome. View the Tech Dining hours of operation here or in Guidebook.

Are there any Week of Welcome events open for families?

Week of Welcome is a special time just for our new-to-Tech students. We offer them opportunities to make new friends and learn more about campus- from getting around to getting involved. We want our students to create these memories with their peers, so we do not offer any Week of Welcome programming for families and guests. We do, however, offer programming during move-in weekend to help support your transition. After your student has moved in and before Week of Welcome begins, we invite everyone to attend our Nests Fests before departing from campus. To follow along with their fun throughout the week, you may view a copy of the Guidebook.

Will I receive any communication about Week of Welcome?

All communication regarding Week of Welcome activities will be sent to your student’s GT email address. Please encourage them to regularly check their email account throughout the summer.
